LDH (Lactate DeHydrogenase) is an enzyme released to milk when cells are destroyed during an inflammation in the udder. It is specific and thus suitable for the detection of early stages of mastitis. It also drops soon after a mastitis case and therefore suited to tell if the cow has been cured.

LDH is superior to conductivity, whereas conductivity has a poor correlation to mastitis.

What is the cure rate on cows treated as early as 3 days prior to the time where you can usually spot changes in the milk?
For newly infected cows it is proven that the cure rate is higher when cows are treated as early as possible.
Do Herd Navigator monitor disorders like rumen acidosis, displaced abomasums or lame cows?
We are not measuring on particular parameters to monitor these health problems. However, since rumen acidosis, displaced abomasums and lameness often affect feed intake, one of these disorders may be part of the reason why the cow has a ketosis alarm. The Standard Operation Procedures will support which action to take.
What is the importance of urea?
Urea reflects the protein/ energy balance so you can optimize the feed ration.
In this way you can follow the changes in the feed closely and react sooner.
The alarms you get on urea are based on a seven days rolling average, so you are able to follow the development currently.
The user can enter a farm specific lower and upper limit for urea alarms, e.g. taking into consideration a grazing situation.
